A small collection of past projects
The Glass Garden
The garden was built around a retired couple who enjoyed the garden but would also have a studio for glass working.
The design used a circular signature using brick and edging kerb to highlight the interlocking geometry. Lawn areas were kept small but significantly would ‘flow’ through the garden space to complement the paving.
Planting was a mix of semi mature evergreen shrubs with perennials and a few specimen trees.
Room With A View
The Sunken Retreat
Curvy Living
A Garden with all the hallmarks of a modern theme, but with a taste of the Mediterranean. The curving nature of the Design helps to harness the natural topography of the site. ‘Structural’ planting creates the framework for the ‘magic’ of perennials.
Urban Life
A low maintenance sanctuary for plants in a suburban setting. Using Architectural planting, the viewers focus is targeted towards certain plant specimens and their interaction with the surrounding foliage. Although low maintanence, gravel areas can look alien to the garden environment. Naturalizing the area with plants, such as Sempervivums, Grasses or Perennials can help ‘gel’ the gravel area to the designed space.
The High Life
A small steeply terraced garden with an asymmetric trapeziod shape is designed to enhance the outdoor space around a small rural cottage. Low maintenance is key to the brief, whilst foilage and improved access along the garden all figure in the initial concept. ‘Floating’ sleepers create a focal point along the major axis of the garden, and work well with the stone wall background.
The Green Oval
A large oval lawn acts as the hub for Family play and relaxation. Limestone paving follows the lawn edge and ‘runs off’ at a tangent to the lawn to allow access to the garden shed and store. Stone setts are laid in the lawn to accentuate the curvature of the lawn. The Childrens Playhouse looks ‘settled’ within the garden even at this early stage. Mature plants will create the finished look.
All Seasons Landscapes – The Collection
A small collection of garden schemes; 1) ‘Countrylife’ – A garden set in the countryside, drawing on a combination of traditional ‘Cottage garden’ plants mixed with Architectural and more modern plant forms . Pergola’s use High-tensile Steel as a growing framework for climbing plants. 2) ‘Circles’ – An asymmetric garden design based on the circle. Using thick gauge Polypropylene for edging, a cool modern look is achieved with no need for masonary structures. A pre-cast concentric paving slab product is used within as a ‘sunken paving area’, thus increasing privacy without any modifications to the boundary fence. 3) ‘The Studio’ – A contemporary garden design using decking to serve for the functional outdoor space, and a studio, constructed from Aluminium, and UV stable Polycarbonate, for the roof and doors. Eliptical steps are constructed to serve as part of the design ethos. 4) ‘Amphitheatre’ – A small front garden scheme where bold planting is used to create a dynamic space. Cobbles mirror the red brickwork of the house, whilst Polypropylene amphitheatre introduces a reflective quality within the garden.
Family Space
A modern garden built around a Classical construct, provides a valuable space for a young family.
